About the Role:

Our Federal Government client is seeking a User researcher with experience in an agile application development environment. The User Researcher will be responsible for helping the team develop a deep understanding of the applications users, their behaviours and their needs. They will carry out a wide variety of user research activities in line with the DTA’s Service Design and Delivery process. They will be responsible for communicating findings back to the whole team and creating actionable insights to guide design.

  • Work in a multidisciplinary team to ensure the identification and prioritisation of the work that benefits users
  • Plan and conduct a range of research including contextual enquiry, usability testing, depth interviews, diary studies and other research techniques as relevant
  • Identify user needs and ensure that your team understands them and keeps user at front of mind when making product and prioritisation decisions
  • Provide actionable insights to your team to help enable the design of successful, user focused services
  • Engage and inform relevant stakeholders and provide timely, frequent and accurate feedback
  • Work with colleagues to plan and conduct continuous user research, and align the user research activities to inform decision making and action
  • Create design hypotheses to improve the service and work with your team to run design experiments
  • Contribute to the DTA’s research and design community

Highly Desirable

  • Ability to articulate clear and actionable insights and recommendations, and in multiple ways (such as service maps, customer journeys etc)
  • Demonstrated experience working in an agile multi-disciplined team
  • Ability to collaborate closely with colleagues in different digital disciplines to achieve outcomes
  • Experience with a wide range of user research methods, and an understanding of when to use those methods and how to apply them correctly
  • Understanding of the diversity of users of government services and the need to make services usable and accessible for everyone

Australian Citizens with a Baseline clearance are required for these roles, due to the requirement to start in April.
